Happy Tails

ADOPTED March 2005
RIP April 13, 2008

Found her forever home in Bowie, MD!

Long story short, Emma has been an on and off "resident" of S.H.I.N.E. since 2002 when S.H.I.N.E. took her and her only puppy(Emily) in from a good samaritan who had rescued them from Virginia Beach Animal Control. In her prime, she has finally found her "niche". Adopted once at 5 yrs old, to be returned 6 months later, then deemed "terminal" with mammary cancer and placed in foster care in S.H.I.N.E. for almost 2 years, then re-evaluated and deemed adoptable again, found her FINAL home in just days of returning to S.H.I.N.E. from her terminal foster home. Truly MIRACULOUS! Emma makes all of us at S.H.I.N.E. believe in miracles! Thanks Emma!

Happy Tails Emma!

Update May 2008: Emma passed away on 13 April 2008 after battling the recurrence of her breast cancer. She had the cancer operation in February and was recovering well from the surgery, but her A- Typical Cushings disease that she was diagnosed with in 2007 had taken its toll on her and she became so weak from the loss of muscle mass that she could no longer get up with out pain and help. So with advice from our Vet Dr. Golden the decision was made to help her make her journey to the Rainbow Bridge. Dr. Golden came to the house so she would not have to suffer the trauma of a trip to the Vet. We were only blessed to have her for three short years, but she has made an imprint on our hearts that will never fade. She loved and was loved dearly.

RIP our lady Emma, you are sadly missed but very fondly remembered in our hearts.
